What Does a Store Assistant Do?

The Store Assistant will support daily warehouse and asset activities at Tambo Memorial Hospital.

The job involves receiving, storing and moving stock. In addition, the successful candidates will help keep the warehouse organised and ensure that stock reaches the correct areas.

Main Duties

The Store Assistant will:

  • Receive stock and assets from suppliers.
  • Check and pack delivered stock.
  • Pull stock from shelves and place it on pallets.
  • Dispatch stock and assets to different areas of the hospital.
  • Keep shelves and storage areas clean and organised.
  • Report damaged, missing or neglected stock.
  • Follow warehouse safety rules.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and managers.
  • Work overtime when the hospital requires additional support.
  • Rotate between the Warehouse and Assets sections.
  • Follow the approved work roster.
  • Attend training, meetings and development activities.
  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

Furthermore, employees must follow the hospital’s work standards and maintain good service when dealing with colleagues and other staff members.

Store Assistant Requirements

Applicants must have a Grade 10 qualification or an equivalent qualification.

However, the Department is also looking for people who can work well in a busy environment.
