Cape Gate is a family-owned, vertically integrated wire and steel producer that has grown from a small wire netting manufacturer (founded in 1962) into a major industry player. Through its ERB Bursary Scheme, Cape Gate supports talented students who wish to pursue a career in accounting.

Purpose of the Bursary
The bursary provides educational assistance to prospective 1st‑year students who will be studying towards a BCom (CA stream) degree in 2025, up to Honours level, at approved universities in South Africa.

What the Bursary Covers
The value of the bursary is reviewed from time to time and may include:

• Full tertiary registration and tuition fees
• Residence fees including meals, or a generous living‑out allowance if living privately
• Book allowance
• Personal allowance for the period spent at university
• A once‑off computer allowance

Bursary Allocation Criteria
Bursaries are awarded based on a balanced consideration of:

• Academic performance
  • Minimum 65% overall average in Matric 2024
  • Minimum 70% for Mathematics
• Financial need
• No current financial assistance
  • Only applicants who are not already funded (no bursary/loan with obligations) will be considered
• Performance in the selection process, which includes interviews

Conditions & Obligations

• Applies only to 1st‑year, full‑time BCom (CA stream) studies in 2025
• Bursary support is for the normal duration of the degree (year‑to‑year renewal, subject to satisfactory academic performance)
• Compulsory paid vacation work at Cape Gate during December and January each year
• At Cape Gate’s sole discretion, graduates may be required to work for the company for a period equal to the duration of sponsorship, at market‑related pay
  • If a bursar chooses not to fulfil this work‑back obligation, they will be required to repay all bursary funds plus interest
