NETWORK & SECURITY ENGINEER

Role Overview
The Network and Security Engineer will ensure the stability, performance and security of the organisation’s network and ICT infrastructure. The role focuses on designing, maintaining and optimising enterprise networks, implementing security controls, responding to incidents, and ensuring resilient, secure and cost-effective ICT services that support business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Governance & Compliance

• Implement ICT infrastructure strategies, policies and standards
• Execute disaster recovery testing and security audits
• Support compliance with NIST, ISO, ISACA and POPIA
• Implement internal and external audit recommendations

Infrastructure & Operations

• Install, manage and support WAN, LAN, servers, data centres, and cloud platforms
• Manage Cisco and Sophos network and security systems
• Perform network monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimisation
• Ensure secure access management and controlled system changes
• Maintain ICT asset lifecycle and upgrade planning
• Manage firewalls, backups, patching, and endpoint security
• Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, VMware and Hyper-V

Security & Risk Management

• Monitor and mitigate cyber and infrastructure risks
• Implement information security controls and user awareness programmes
• Support incident response and vulnerability management
• Ensure business application security and data protection

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field (advantage)
• Diploma (NQF 6) in Network Engineering, Information Security, ICT or related field

Certifications (Preferred)

• Microsoft Professional Certifications
• Networking and Security Certifications (e.g. CCNA, Security+)

Experience

• Minimum 3 years in Network & Security Engineering

Strong experience with:

• Microsoft Windows Server & Active Directory
• Microsoft 365 & Exchange
• Cisco networking
• Sophos & enterprise firewalls
• Dell servers and storage
• Backup and disaster recovery
• Cloud and mobile technologies
• Virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V)
• TOGAF or Zachman architecture frameworks
• Valid driver’s licence
