Programme Overview

This bursary is designed for students who want to:

What the Bursary Covers

Software Development Engineer (SDE) Opportunity

SDEs at Amazon:

  • Build and design large-scale software systems

Internship Experience

During the internship, students will:

Who Can Apply (Eligibility Criteria)

Applicants must:

  • Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • Specialisations in AI or Machine Learning are accepted
  • Be in final year of a 3-year degree OR 3rd year of a 4-year degree (2026)
  • Plan to complete Honours (NQF Level 8) by 2027
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Study at a South African university only
  • Have a minimum 65% academic average
  • Show strong interest in software development and coding

Obligations

If selected, you must:

  • Complete a paid Amazon internship during university vacation
  • Participate in training and development programmes
  • Be willing to accept a full-time role after graduation (if offered)
  • Work for Amazon for a period equivalent to bursary years funded
