About the Internship
This Bursary Administration Internship is aimed at students and recent graduates who want hands‑on experience in bursary management, student support and education administration. Based at our provincial offices across all provinces in South Africa, the intern will support the bursary unit with end‑to‑end administration of bursary applications and existing bursars.
You will work closely with bursary officers, students, and tertiary institutions, gaining practical experience in data management, finance administration, and learner monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bursary Intern, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative support to the bursary unit.
- Ensuring compliance with bursary policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Maintaining student files and the bursary database, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Processing bursary applications and capturing relevant information.
- Assisting in administering and resolving student queries (administrative and financial).
- Verifying all student documents and information for completeness and correctness.
- Liaising with universities, colleges and other study institutions regarding student accounts and results.
- Handling and escalating student queries where necessary, and performing follow‑ups.
- Monitoring and following up on the academic progress of bursars.
- Collating, filing and safely storing all bursary documents.
- Preparing and populating reports, ensuring they are accurate, in the correct format and submitted on time.
- Conducting reconciliations and submitting them for approval for payment, in line with the checklist.
- Ensuring all correspondence is standardised and routed through a central point to maintain quality.
- Processing learner monitoring reports for bursars.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this bursary internship, you must have:
- A National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification at a minimum of NQF Level 4.
- A National Diploma or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6) in one of the following (or a related field):
- Project Management
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
