About the Bursary
The GrandWest Bursary, offered by GrandWest (Sun International), assists deserving students who live and study in the Western Cape. The bursary supports full‑time undergraduate studies at selected public universities and focuses on fields that are key to South Africa’s growth.

Partner Institutions
You must be registered (or planning to register) at one of these Western Cape public institutions:

  • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
  • University of Cape Town (UCT)
  • Stellenbosch University (SU)

Fields of Study
Undergraduate studies in:

  • Tourism & Hospitality
  • Information Technology
  • Agriculture
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens under the age of 27
  • Reside in the Western Cape and have matriculated in South Africa
  • Be registered, or planning to register, for full‑time undergraduate studies at UWC, CPUT, UCT or SU
  • Have a strong academic record and no outstanding/failed subjects from the previous year
  • Not be employed full‑time
  • Students with disabilities or impairments are strongly encouraged to apply

How to Apply

  1. Obtain the official application form from the Financial Aid Office at your university (UWC, CPUT, UCT or SU).
  2. Follow your institution’s submission instructions and deadlines.

Typical Supporting Documents
You will usually be asked to submit:

  • Certified copy of your South African ID
  • Certified copies of your Matric certificate and latest academic results
  • Proof of application or acceptance to one of the eligible institutions
  • Proof of household income for parents/guardians
  • A motivational letter explaining your background, goals and why you need the bursary
