The Investec CSI Bursary supports students studying full-time towards undergraduate degrees in:

  • Actuarial Science*
  • Commerce (Economics, Accounting, Investments, Finance, Business Economics)
  • BCom Informatics
  • Business Science
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Information Science
  • Engineering
  • Science and Mathematics
  • Commercial LLB
  • Medicine (MBChB)

Note: Actuarial Science bursaries are only available to first-year university students unless studying Business Science at UCT.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Investec CSI Bursary, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be currently in Grade 12, taking a gap year after Grade 12, or in the first year of university.
  • Intend to study full-time at a recognised South African public university.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Show strong academic potential.

Academic Requirements

Grade 12 Applicants

Applicants must have achieved:

  • At least 60% in all subjects.
  • A minimum of 70% in Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted).
  • At least 70% in English First Additional Language (FAL) or 65% in English Home Language (HL).

First-Year University Students

Applicants must:

  • Achieve an overall average of 60% or higher in their first semester.
  • Students enrolled in STEM programmes must obtain at least 60% in every subject.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit certified copies of the following documents:

  • South African ID.
  • Latest academic results or progress report.
  • Official Matric/NSC certificate (if completed Grade 12).
  • Parent or guardian’s payslips (if employed).
  • Employer’s letter and sworn affidavit stating income (where applicable).
  • Financial statements (if parent or guardian is self-employed).
  • Affidavit if parent or guardian is unemployed.
  • Death certificate (if parent or guardian is deceased).
  • Divorce certificate (if parents are divorced).
  • Affidavit if parents are separated.
