Purpose of the Role
The Commission for Gender Equality has a vacant post for one member of its Audit and Risk Committee. The primary purpose of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent oversight on:
- The financial reporting process
- The audit process (internal and external)
- Corporate governance
- Systems of internal control
- Compliance with laws and regulations
- Integrity of the financial status of the CGE
- Maintenance of sound risk management systems
Persons interested in this function and who are eminently qualified will be expected to provide oversight and guidance to the Commission on the following:
- Internal audit
- Internal financial controls
- Accounting policies
- Risk management
- Adequacy, reliability and accuracy of financial reporting and information
- Performance management
- Effective governance
- Compliance with applicable legislation
- Review of quarterly and annual performance information
- Corporate governance matters
Term of Office
The term of office of the appointed candidate will be three (3) years, after which the Commission may review the incumbency.

Minimum Requirements
- Master of Laws (LLM).
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the legal industry as a legal practitioner.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience serving on an Audit and/or Risk Committee.
- Willingness to serve the interests of the public in a responsible and ethical manner.
- Good understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations and other legislation governing the work of public entities.
- An understanding of gender equality will be an added advantage.
