Position Title: Provincial Manager – Western Cape

Salary Level: 11
Remuneration: R896 436.00 per annum (all-inclusive package)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and manage provincial projects effectively.
  • Demonstrate excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • Ensure effective verbal and written communication within the province and with Head Office.
  • Apply sound knowledge and experience in the field of gender equality and working with civil society organisations.
  • Implement the CGE’s public awareness campaigns in the province.
  • Monitor and report on non-compliance with the promotion of gender equality.
  • Use knowledge of at least one indigenous language spoken in the province (advantageous).
  • Be prepared to travel extensively and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain computer literacy and hold a valid driver’s licence.
  • Work independently, plan and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Effectively manage the provincial office and all CGE resources in the province.
  • Supervise and lead provincial staff to achieve the objectives of the work plan, in consultation with HODs and other stakeholders.
  • Build and manage strategic stakeholder relations in the province.
  • Implement CGE programmes at provincial level, including:
    • Public education
    • Policy research
    • Legal complaints handling
  • Prepare budgets for provincial programmes and ensure proper financial management at provincial level.
  • Provide regular feedback on provincial operations to the Chief Operations Officer and relevant HODs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a postgraduate qualification in:
    • Management, or
    • Public Administration, or
    • Social Sciences, or
    • Equivalent relevant qualification.
  • More than 5 years’ work experience in a relevant management role.
  • Must be a South African citizen.

Competencies and Skills

  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Sound knowledge of gender equality issues and the work/mandate of the CGE.
  • Experience working with civil society and community-based structures.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder relations and partnership-building skills.
  • Financial and budget management at programme/provincial level.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and related tools).
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to speak at least one indigenous language spoken in the Western Cape will be an added advantage.
