Job Overview
We are a well-established chartered accountancy firm operating in both the UK and South Africa, providing high-quality services in audit, tax, payroll, and business advisory.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Personal Tax Administrator to support our tax team with UK personal tax compliance, client administration, and HMRC submissions.
This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and an interest in UK taxation and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Return Administration
- Assist with preparation of Self Assessment tax returns (individuals, partnerships, trusts)
- Organise and manage client tax documentation securely
- Prepare rental accounts and tax return packs
- Support submission of returns to HMRC systems
- Assist with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance
- Review PAYE coding notices and employment benefits
- Prepare 60-day UK Property Tax Returns
Client Support & Communication
- Act as first point of contact for basic client queries
- Collect client authorisations (64-8 / Agent Services)
- Chase outstanding client documentation professionally
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
HMRC Compliance Support
- Monitor UK tax deadlines and compliance schedules
- Assist with HMRC queries and responses
- Track statements of account and communication logs
Team Administration
- Manage diaries and UK tax-year deadlines
- Support tax team with general administrative tasks
- Ensure accurate record keeping and filing systems
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Strong administrative experience (professional or financial services preferred)
- Experience in personal tax (South Africa exposure required)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to handle confidential financial information
Desirable
- Experience in tax administration or accounting firms
- Familiarity with HMRC systems (Agent Services Account)
- Knowledge of tax software (CCH, IRIS, Digita)
- Understanding of Self Assessment tax cycle
