STADIO Higher Education is hiring for a Human Resources Generalist job in Waterfall. This role is operational and end-to-end, supporting the full employee lifecycle while partnering with management and staff across key HR functions.
Role Purpose
The HR Generalist role is comprehensive and hands-on, providing HR support across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance support, HR administration, reporting, and compliance—while balancing business needs with a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
In this Human Resources Generalist job in Waterfall, you will be responsible for:
- Executing HR action plans aligned to the overall people strategy.
- Administering payroll-related remuneration and benefits, and managing staff queries.
- Maintaining and updating job descriptions, job grading, employment contracts, and accurate employee records.
- Managing recruitment processes: advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Facilitating offboarding and exit administration.
- Providing employee relations support (discipline, grievances, and policy guidance).
- Representing the employer at the CCMA.
- Compiling HR reports for management and statutory compliance.
- Partnering with academic and administrative units on talent management, people development, and employee engagement.
- Coaching leaders on performance management, conflict resolution, and change management.
- Supporting culture development and continuous improvement using employee engagement metrics.
- Acting as a trusted HR advisor with strong professional judgement and confidentiality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management (or related).
- Minimum 5 years’ operational HR experience, preferably within private higher education.
- Experience working with an HR information system (HRIS).
- Proven experience in industrial relations and CCMA representation.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of South African labour law and employment legislation.
- Excellent organisational and administrative ability with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and a customer service mindset.
- Professional, empathetic, confident, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
