Job Purpose
Reporting to the Legal Manager, the Legal Advisor will ensure that GIFS operates in full compliance with all applicable legislation, provide legal guidance to management, and represent the institution in legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all legislation applicable to a higher education institution
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts on behalf of GIFS
- Review contracts received from third parties
- Represent GIFS in litigation, labour and commercial matters
- Provide legal advice on potential liabilities and risk exposure
- Conduct legal research and provide advisory opinions to management
- Support internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters
Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree
- Minimum of 5 years post-admission experience
- Strong knowledge of South African commercial, labour and regulatory law
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- High level of professionalism and ethical conduct
