What is the Martin & East Matric Gap Year Programme 2027?
The programme offers successful applicants the opportunity to participate in various civil engineering and construction disciplines while gaining practical workplace experience.
Participants may be exposed to:
- Road Construction and Rehabilitation
- Bulk Earthworks and Landfills
- Pipelines and Underground Services
- Bridges and Concrete Structures
- Road Surfacing and Maintenance

In addition, learners will be placed on a Construction Roadworks and Supervision Learnership during the programme.
Martin & East Matric Gap Year Programme 2027 Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be in Grade 12 during 2026
- Be a South African citizen
- Intend to study Civil Engineering in 2028
- Achieve a minimum of 60% in:
- Pure Mathematics, Mathematics Literacy, or Technical Mathematics
- Physical Science
