Job Overview
GM Plant Solutions (Pty) Ltd is currently seeking a Junior Safety Officer to join our mining operations team based at New Clydesdale Coal (NCC) in Kriel, Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will support the Safety Department in ensuring compliance with Mine Health and Safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment, and assisting with site safety implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in enforcing Mine Health & Safety Act compliance
- Conduct site safety inspections and risk assessments
- Support incident reporting and investigations
- Ensure safety procedures are followed on-site
- Assist management in implementing safety protocols
- Promote a strong safety culture across the site
Employment Conditions
- Subject to successful Mine Medical Assessment
- Must be fully bilingual (English – read, write, and speak)
- Strong understanding of mine safety regulations
- Minimum 1 year mining industry experience (advantageous)
- Preference given to applicants residing in Kriel Local Municipality
- Proof of residence must be included with application
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (or equivalent)
- SAMTRAC or HIRA certification (compulsory or in progress)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices in mining environments
